  “You saved my life,” she said. “I thought I owed you a favor.”

  Patch struggled to his feet and moved across to drop down beside her. They threw their arms around each other and Tori couldn’t stop the tears sliding down her cheeks. A glance towards the dead body of her crazed ex-boyfriend showed that their ordeal was finally over.

  “What do we do now?” she asked after a few seconds.

  “We need to get out of here,” Patch said as he took control of the situation. “I’ll get in touch with Six and tell him this place needs cleaned.”

  “What about him?” she asked and motioned her head towards Matt.

  “His body will disappear and never be found,” Patch replied. “And I don’t think anyone will miss him.”

  “You’re right,” Tori said and wiped the tears from her cheeks. “No one will miss him at all.” There was a slight hesitation before she spoke again. “What about us? Where do we stand?”

  “Are you kidding me?” Patch replied and smiled. “I’m never going to let you go.”

  Tori closed her eyes as she was hugged tightly and her heart leapt. She knew she’d done the right thing and wasn’t the least bit sorry she used the gun to end Matt’s life. It was exactly what he deserved. What it meant was that she could now look forward to a future with a man she wanted to be with and that she knew would care for her. There was no way of knowing what that actually meant, but she was certain of one thing.

  She was going to grab the opportunity and make the most of her new life in love with a Roadrunner.
